Sewer Project
The Village of Clifton, much to the delight of the Board of Trustees and Board President, Bob Frooninckx, received the first payment from the State of Illinois for almost one million dollars toward the sewer project.  The check received during the past week was for $969,137.00 and will go to the contractors and supplies for the project.  It is still requested that those residents that have not identified the location of their septic with the village do so ASAP as construction of the sewer distribution system is progressing quite rapidly in the north part of the village.  Sewer and water lines under the CN Railroad and Old Rt. 45 has been completed.  If you are unable to stop by the office during normal hours (M – F; 8 – 11 am), please call the office at (815) 694-2273, or e-mail us at villageclifton@yahoo.com,  to arrange an alternative method of informing the village of the location of your septic tank.  Construction crews will be posting notes on your door and stakes in your yard within a few days of starting to dig in your area.  If you have any questions, follow instructions on the note or call the village.  Sewer plant construction on the 11 acres recently annexed into the village is on schedule and the building is being built.

Sewer Project
The sewer project is proceeding in the north part of the Village and those residents that have not identified the location of the septic tank for their residence need to do so at the Village office at 350 E. Fourth Avenue as soon as possible.  Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.  You may call the office at (815) 694-2273, or e-mail us at villageclifton@yahoo.com, if you are unable to stop by the office during normal hours.  Again, the location that is marked on the village maps will determine where the sewer line will be dropped at your property line.  The residents are responsible for running the sewer line from the property line to the desired location.  It is in your best interest to have the sewer line dropped as close to the final destination as possible.  This will cost you less in the long run.  The more pipe you have to run, the more it will cost.
A four-inch (4”) pipe with a clean out for your line is required to hook-up to the sewer system from your home.

The Yard Waste Burn Site on the north side of town is now closed due to the sewer project.  Please do not leave yard waste in the driveway.
