Sewer Project
Construction on the east side of town will continue on Fourth Street to First Avenue. After that, the crews will go back to work on Hendron Avenue and the area to the north of Hendron. Construction of the west side of town will continue on Lincoln Avenue to Evergreen, then go north on Maple Street from Lincoln. If you have any questions you may contact the village office , Pat Olson, the MG2a engineer on site for the east side of town, or Matt Hill, the MG2a engineer for the west side.
Village maps can no longer be changed in time for construction crews to review; therefore, it is no longer necessary to stop by the village office to locate your septic. As sewer construction crews near your property, a note will be attached to your door and a stake with a lime green ribbon will be placed in your yard. The flag indicates where the sewer drop will be placed on your property. If you would like to change the location, please call the number listed on the note attached to your door as soon as possible, or you may call the village office at (815) 694-2273, Monday – Friday, 8a.m. – 11a.m. Thank you to all the residents who have taken the time to review the location of their septic with the village and those who have helped the engineers with various problem locations in their areas.
With sewer construction occurring in the village, boil orders will be issued from time to time. Following are ways in which the village will try to keep residents informed of boil orders either being issued or lifted.
1. Radio stations are informed when a boil order is issued in the village and when it is lifted. You should listen to the following radio stations:
WGFA 94.1 FM WKAN 1320 AM
2. The resident in charge of the sign on Main Street has stated that he will make his best effort to have the sign changed when a boil order is issued and/or lifted.
3. The village is in the process of compiling a list of residents who would like to receive an e-newsletter. This list of residents will also provide a method with which to inform residents of boil orders. If you would like to receive the village e-newsletter, please visit http://www.villageofclifton.info/
4. Boil orders are posted at the post office, library, both village banks, and Jensen’s IGA.
Please understand that the persons changing the signs and sending emails must be available and/or home to change the sign / send emails and this may not always be done in a timely manner.

Clifton Fun Days
As part of the Clifton Fun Days, the village will host a Luau themed parade on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. We welcome any groups, sports teams, organizations, clubs, businesses, golf cart owners, or individuals who would like to participate. Featured in this years’ parade will be a “kid’s section.” We look forward to having kids think of ways in which they would like to join in the festivities. They can decorate their bikes, wagons, themselves . . . be creative. The more the merrier! There is no fee to enter into the parade. For more information, contact Shannon James at (815) 694-2255, (815) 258-0232, or jamesjs@netzero.com. Entry forms are available at the Clifton Public Library or the village office.

Yard Waste Bags
Yard waste trash bags and/or stickers are now available for purchase at the village office. Bags are $2.25 and stickers are $2.10. The village no longer has a yard waste burn site; however, A&J Disposal will pick-up yard waste that has either been placed in bags that have been purchased from the village or you may use your own bags and purchase a sticker to put on the bags so that A&J will pick them up on the regularly scheduled trash day of Tuesday.
