Sewer Project

The west side crew will continue digging east on Lincoln Avenue to Maple Street and working on service lines. They will then go back and run south off of Lincoln to Pepperidge Estates. The east side crew is finishing Porter Avenue west toward Main Street and then will go down the alley north to Jensen Avenue and work on service hook-ups. After that portion is complete, they will work on Porter moving south in the easement behind the 200 block of North Main Street. The sewer plant is on schedule with tanks being put into the ground and work being done on the interior of the building itself. Again, please watch for a stake with lime green ribbon to be placed in your yard indicating where the sewer hook-up will be placed at your property line. If you would like your hook-up in a different location, please contact the village office.

Recycling

If you currently do or have ever thought about recycling, this is your opportunity, it just became a little more convenient. The Clifton Lion’s club is bringing recycling to the Village of Clifton the first Saturday of every month, starting August 7th. Start saving your aluminum cans, glass, vegetable/soup cans, plastic, and paper (copy & notebook, newspaper, and magazines -sorted). You will only have to cart it a short distance to the Lion’s Club sign by the railroad tracks on Main Street where a recycling trailer will be waiting along with volunteers to help unload and sort it. More information will be forthcoming, in the meantime, start saving!

All seven units for the modular offices have been moved into the Village. Water and sanitation lines have been installed.

Sewer Project

The east side crew is continuing the work on Jensen Avenue, Wilson Drive, and Porter Avenue. The west side crew will continue working on Lincoln Avenue and the lift station in Gerdes Park. Concrete was poured on the sewer plant site itself last week, keeping construction on schedule. Please look for the stake with the lime-green flag that indicates where your hook-up will be placed at your property line as construction nears your home and let us know if you need to move it.

Water Department

The boil order issued on July 12th was due to a service leak, not sewer construction. Layne-Western was here on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, to continue work on Well #4 which is currently available for service; however, not yet in automatic mode.

Village Openings

The village will be looking to fill both the building inspector position as well as the seventh position on the planning commission. If you or someone you know might be interested in serving the village in this capacity, please call the village office for more information.

Looking Good / Improvements

As you may have already noticed, on West Fifth Avenue at Elliot Street, the old silos owned by Rabideau Grain have been demolished. Looks great Rabideau Grain, Thanks! In addition, drainage was improved at that same intersection during the past week. A broken tile has now been repaired.

The “bump” on Sixth Avenue at Second Street has been removed; however, the four-way stop sign has not. Please obey street signs within the village.

If you notice any vacant residences or lots that are in need of being mowed, please notify the village office.
