Sewer Project The construction crew will be working on South Fourth Street, South Third Street, and East Sixth Street installing sewer mains. Listed below are several items relating to the sewer that are now available in the village office. These items will also be made available on the village website this week and for those of you who receive the newsletter electronically, a copy of each has been attached to your email. Sewer Questions and Answers Pipe and Materials List Sewer Permit Application Sewer Use Ordinance Water Rate Chart Water Rate Ordinance Grant Notification Letter Connection Assistance Grant The village has been awarded an Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant that is available to assist (up to $900) qualified low to moderate income households in the Village of Clifton hook-up to the new sewer system. A letter stating the qualifications and application opportunities will be mailed this week to all residents who have a water account with the village. Applications times at the village office are as follows: April 4 8:00 –11:00 a.m. & 3:30–5:30 p.m. April 18 8:00 –11:00 a.m. April 5 8:00 –11:00 a.m. & 3:30–5:30 p.m. April 27 8:00 –11:00 a.m. April 6 8:00 –11:00 a.m. April 28 8:00 –11:00 am & 3:30–5:30 p.m. April 15 8:00 –11:00 a.m. April 29 8:00 –11:00 a.m. Police Department The village police department has been tagging unlicensed vehicles, trailers, boats, etc. per village Ordinance 06-01 (see excerpt below). Ordinance 06-01, Section 6-5-2, Abandonment of Vehicles No person shall abandon any vehicle within the Village and no person shall leave any abandoned vehicle at any place within the Village for such time and under such circumstances as to cause such vehicle reasonably to appear to have been abandoned. The abandonment of a motor vehicle or other vehicle or any part thereof on any highway in the municipality is unlawful and subject to penalties as set forth in this code. The abandonment of a motor vehicle or other vehicle or any part thereof on private or public property (other than a highway), in view of the general public, anywhere in this municipality is unlawful. A motor vehicle or other vehicle or any part thereof so abandoned on private property may be authorized for removal by or upon the order of the village police chief after a waiting period of seven (7) days or more has expired. This provision shall not apply to properly registered and licensed antique vehicles.
