Sewer Project

The construction crew will be working in the area around Sixth Avenue and South Fourth Street. Dawn is also flushing and testing the lines in preparation for the sewer plant start-up later this month.

The list of sewer questions and answers should be available both in the village office and on the village website by next week.

U.S. Representative Timothy V. Johnson

U.S. Representative Timothy V. Johnson will be at the Clifton Community Building tonight, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. for a Town Hall Meeting. Representative Johnson will be available to discuss federal issues and answer questions.

Burning / Yard Waste Removal

Burning of leaves and landscape waste is allowed on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and sunset. If you prefer not to burn, yard waste trash bags and/or stickers are available for purchase at the village office. Bags are $2.25 and stickers are $2.10. A&J will pick them up on regularly scheduled trash day.

Connection Assistance Grant

The village has been awarded an Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant that is available to assist (up to $900) qualified low to moderate income households in the Village of Clifton hook-up to the new sewer system. A letter stating the qualifications and application opportunities will be mailed to all residents who have a water account with the village within the next couple of weeks.

April 5, 2011 Election

The Village of Clifton will be voting for village president and five trustee positions among others as part of the April 5th election. Jan O’Connell is running unopposed for the unexpired 2-year term for village president. Casey Hull, Gracia Turner and James Dundas are running for two trustee positions to serve an unexpired 2-year term. Mark Wegner, Jimmie Schoon, Robert Berns, and Randy Gigl are running for three trustee positions to serve a full 4-year term. A sample ballot is available in the village office for your review.

Golf Cart Stickers

Spring is just around the corner and that means that golf cart stickers will need to be renewed. Current stickers expire on March 31st. You will need to stop by the village office to fill out the golf cart registration form, pay the golf cart fee that remains unchanged at $25.00, and show current proof of insurance.
